Mentoring

Academic Success provides students with a mentor to assist students in successfully making the transition from high school to college and to apartment living. As part of their schedule, students meet weekly with a mentor to discuss topics including problem solving, effective listening and communication skills, relationships, social life, adversity, self-responsibility, and progress at school.
The Director of Student Services is available to facilitate compromise coaching sessions with roommates to address common area rules, equitable management of household responsibilities, communication, and cooperation.
Mentors are matched to students according to interests and needs. We select mentors with whom our students will be able to talk freely and discuss life situations. Mentoring should be a "fun time" during the week. This session is driven by the students, in most cases, according to what they are comfortable doing or talking about.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
